Summer
The lakeshore communities of West Michigan do a fantastic job of hosting events and activities that include the whole family. There's so much happening that is geared specifically toward kids and families as a whole, and that's part of what makes being here so amazing!

Every season in West Michigan has it's unique, fun things to do for kids of all ages- from babies up to the "young at heart". Indoors or outdoors, no matter the time of year, there's always something great going on along the lakeshore for families to experience together!

Here's a list of family friendly events happening along the lakeshore in July:



June 17th-August 2nd


Free summer meals for kids. Non-income based program offered by the Mason County Central Food Service for all children ages 18 and younger. Serving days are Monday-Friday with the exception of the Upper Elementary which is closed on Fridays. Daily Schedule:
8-8:30am - Breakfast at the Scottville Upper Elementary School- 505 W. Maple St.
11:15am-12:15pm - Lunch at the Scottville Upper Elementary School and Pere Marquette School- 1115 S. Madison St. in Ludington.
11am-12:30pm - Lunch at Emanuel Lutheran Church- 501 E. Danaher St. in Ludington and the Ludington Library- 217 E. Ludington Ave.
11:15am-12:30pm - Lunch at Waterfront Park- 300 S. William St. in Ludington.

Wednesday, July 17th-Sunday, July 20th


Baldwin Troutarama. Fun activities, food, music, and more for the whole family in Downtown Baldwin.


Thursday, July 18th-Wednesday, July 24th


Ludington Offshore Fishing Tournaments. Thursday: Ruboy Shootout, Friday: Ladies & Kids' Tournaments, Saturday-Sunday: Pro/Am Tournament, following Tuesday-Wednesday: Big Boys Tournament.

Kaleva Days. Kaleva School Reunion, food, softball tournament, car show, kids activities, parade, fireworks, and more.


Friday, July 19th, 6-9pm


Manistee Saints vs. Mid Michigan Starz semi-pro baseball games at Reitz Park- 1010 Forest Ave. in Manistee.


Saturday, July 20th


10am - WSCC Muddy Fox Trot 5k mud run with a boot camp style obstacle course at West Shore Community College- 3000 N. Stiles Rd. in Scottville. Benefits the WSCC Student Scholarhship Fund.

10am & 1pm - WMOEC Garden Tractor Pulls at the West Michigan Old Engine Club Grounds- 700 S. Scottville Rd. in Scottville. Dead-boat pull at 10am and transfer sled pull at 1pm.

4-10pm - Ludington Pyratehead Club Buccaneer Bash at the Ludington Boat Club- 502 Lake St. in Ludington. Food, music, kids activities, and more to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.


Thursday, July 25th


2:30-4pm - Antique Car Show at Oakview Medical Care Facility parking lot- 1001 Diana St. in Ludington. Sponsored by the Pere Marquette Motoring Club.

8-10pm - Sunset Beach Bonfire at Stearns Park in Ludington. Live music by the Pangea Steel Drum Band.

Friday, July 26th-Sunday, July 28th


Arcadia Daze - Craft show, auto muster, 5k, kids activities, parade, and more in Arcadia.

Stratford on the Avenue Theatre Festival - Local theatre troupe performs a traditional rendition of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" preceded by a comedic, abridged version of Othello in Ludington's Rotary Park. Friday & Saturday performances at 7pm, Sunday matinee at 2pm.


Saturday, July 27th-Sunday, July 28th; 1pm & 3:15pm


Manistee Saints vs. Midland Tribe semi-pro baseball games at Reitz Park- 1010 Forest Ave. in Manistee.


Saturday, July 27th


7am-4pm - Car Show in Downtown Hart.

12-5pm - Big Sable Point Lighthouse Bus Tour featuring live music by High Lonesome. Music from 1:30-3:30pm. Buses transport visitors from Ludington State Park to the lighthouse and back. Round-trip fee is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under.

6pm - West Shore Bank Rhythm & Dunes Concert featuring Your Generation at Waterfront Park- 391 S. William St. in Ludington. Free concert with donations accepted to benefit local high school music programs.
